With Bock through the country - Kraus and Krause save a village
Every German spends around 160 hours a year in the supermarket - that's almost a week! But what do we actually know about this everyday and yet so complex cosmos? In the new RTL consumer documen"I'm definitely happy to spend two days with people - and animals - who aren't web designers and don't do anything with media," says TV presenter and "SWR3 latenight" talker Pierre M. Krause. "An excursion into another world," says presenter, actress and author Sonya Kraus.
For two days, they set off together as assistant shepherds on an unusual tour through the Sauerland, with a herd of around 900 voracious sheep that, according to travelling shepherd Maik Randolph, eat around 10 kilos of grass per head every day. And as idyllic and tranquil as country life looks, the shepherd trainees Kraus & Krause have to overcome a few challenges on their hike from Iserlohn to Wiblingwerde.
Because the sheep and the goats that accompany them do not stop at the neighbour's garden on their way from meadow to meadow. Sonya Kraus vigorously protects a neighbour's roses from the voracious appetite of the secret star of the herd, Elvis the billy goat. Pierre M. Krause humorously ensures a smooth procession through a village. "You have to roll up the windows, they're killer sheep, they're very aggressive," he warns a waiting driver and later realises: "We've saved a village."
Normally, drinking at work is not allowed, but there is an exception for the temporary shepherds. There is a farm on the edge of their route and a schnapps tasting is on the agenda. Shepherd Maik Randolph passes by here every year with his flock. The two have a curious encounter with a neighbouring farmer who keeps a wild boar as a "pet". The four-legged friend "Schnitzel" was raised with a bottle and thinks he is a dog.
