Fits, wobbles and has air - How apprentices brick walls, tilt brooms and brave the weather
They are apprentice craftsmen + they love their job. Even if there are days when everything goes wrong. Nick, Lukas, Gordon, Ibrahim and another Nick are at the beginning of their careers as roofers, chimney sweeps, bricklayers and heating engineers. Every day, the apprentices are given new tasks, make mistakes and learn. Their instructors, the master craftsmen and journeymen, are closely by their side throughout.
Together with master roofer Tobi, apprentice Nick, 20, has the job of renovating a flat roof on a high-rise building in Münster. The two craftsmen got up extra early so they could work in the cool morning hours. But suddenly the weather changes.
Chimney sweep apprentice Lukas, 16, has just started his training. As he is cleaning a chimney at dizzying heights, his broom suddenly gets stuck. To make it work anyway, he now needs a lot of skill, strength and the help of journeywoman Sandra. Master bricklayer Markus is on the road today with two apprentices.
Gordon, 20, and Ibrahim, 22, are to brick a wall on a large construction site. Ibrahim is already in his third year of apprenticeship. Now he's showing Gordon the right bricklaying moves.
Journeyman heating engineer Kevin and apprentice Nick, 36, have to dismantle a boiler in an old house. In the process, a large amount of water unexpectedly leaks out, which will immediately find its way if Kevin + Nick don't react quickly.
