Goodbye plastic - ways out of the plastic madness
Plastic bottles, food packaged in plastic, delivery of food in plastic. Per capita, Germany produces an average of 38 kilograms of plastic packaging waste per year. Corona is exacerbating the trend toward more plastic waste. Not even 20 percent of all this waste is recycled. Around two-thirds is simply incinerated, and the rest is exported abroad. But there are ways out of the plastic trap. In Switzerland, marketing expert Jeannette Morath has been working on her solution for eight years: Reusable instead of disposable packaging - and for takeaway food. reCIRCLE is the name of the first supraregional reusable system for delivery services. "We want reusable dishes to become a matter of course," she says. More than 1,200 restaurants have already switched to her containers. Now the system is taking off in Germany, too.
