Since 2010, he has been travelling all over NRW, Germany and Europe as a taster. As a child of the Ruhr region, Björn Freitag is nevertheless deeply rooted in his homeland and puts his culinary stamp on the region. So he also stands at several cooker tops away from the camera. He has been running the "Goldener Anker" in Dorsten since 1997. Björn Freitag was only 23 years old when he took over his parents' restaurant. In 2001 it was awarded a Michelin star, making Björn Freitag Germany's youngest star chef at the time. Various TV appearances followed until 2010, when FC Schalke 04 finally took notice of the chef's culinary skills. The taster is now in its 14th season on WDR television. A long time in which he roamed through fields, stables and factory halls to bring us closer to the origins of our food.

It all began on Monday, 5 July 2010 at 8:15 pm. For the first time, Björn Freitag provided us with deep insights into the production and usability of our food as a taster. The topic at that time: meat. From then on, more than 111 programmes were to follow. The topic of bread is always particularly popular with viewers. No wonder that the taster devoted no less than four programmes to this basic food. Cheese and eggs were dealt with three times each - of course with different focuses and topical references.

In the anniversary episode, the taster invites you to cook together with his companions. Johann Lafer, Frank Buchholz or Doc Heinz-Wilhelm Esser - they have all been guests on Björn Freitag's show. However, he has been accompanied most often by Anja Tanas, a certified nutritionist. In 29 programmes so far, the two have stood together in the taster kitchen, analysed food, studied ingredient lists and created delicious dishes to try.
