Delicious on board - Culinary treasures around Bad Honnef

Top chefs + friends Björn Freitag and Frank Buchholz are on a discovery tour along the waterways of North Rhine-Westphalia. With the unaone, the self-built houseboat of their skipper Heinz-Dieter Fröse, it's time to "weigh anchor" on the Rhine. From the Siebengebirge near Bad Honnef through the Bay of Cologne along the Lower Rhine to Emmerich on the Dutch border, the friends explore their homeland and embark on a culinary adventure.

The aim is always to gather delicious ingredients from the region within a radius of fifteen kilometres and celebrate a regional dinner on board in the evening. The first episode takes the chefs to the southernmost edge of NRW.

In the Siebengebirge mountains, Björn visits Nicolai Harbort and his herd of Glan cattle and learns why it is important to strengthen biodiversity by breeding old animal breeds. Nearby, farm owner Dhana Schwarz also looks after endangered animal breeds. Frank is allowed to visit the Mucherwiese e.V. farm community. The residents live almost exclusively from their own produce.

Björn is invited to the Rhineland-Palatinate side by Tahsin Eş. The hobby gardener grows tomatoes, chillies and peppers from all over the world in his garden in Rheinbreitbach. Frank's last stop is the Broicher Mühle in Wachtberg-Villip. Owner Elisabeth Bedorf and her son Alexander put their heart and soul into looking after the old watermill.

Back on board, the two top chefs get to work: there's Glan beef rump and T-bone steak from the grill, vine leaves with a minty spicy rice filling and halloumi, toasted slices of bread with cheese + green tomato chutney on top. And a delicious dessert of rhubarb compote on soured milk with fresh strawberries in a glass..
