Goodbye Germany! The emigrants - The big dream of Thailand
Endless sandy beaches, a tropical climate and an exotic culture - Thailand is a country in constant flux. For many, it is an absolute paradise, but for those who live here, it is a country that constantly presents them with new challenges. Those who emigrate here must always take risks and be tireless, despite their success. Matthias Bück emigrated to Koh Samui 10 years ago with his wife Hania to set up his own bar serving German specialities. He struggles every day to realise his emigrant dream, as he is constantly faced with new and difficult tasks.
First Hania breaks up with him, then he is threatened with bankruptcy after the customers suddenly stop coming. But Matthias always stands up to all obstacles, because he is a fighter. How is he doing after 10 years in Thailand and what is he missing here? Günther and Bärbel Schäfer have been fighting very hard for their success since emigrating to Thailand. They have now made a real name for themselves with their bikini business and have opened several branches on Koh Samui.
But that's not enough for them and they also want to expand into Europe. They are also celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with us. This should be an unforgettable one for them. But can it work and can they make their party as successful as their bikini business? Jannine Weigel has been living with her parents in Thailand, the country her mother comes from, for 8 years. For her, Thailand is not the big goal, but the springboard for more.
At the tender age of 18, Jannine is aiming high and wants to become a world-famous pop star. She sacrifices a lot to achieve this, as her well-organised daily routine with video shoots, language lessons and courses leaves little room for a private life. How much longer can the 18-year-old put up with it? Didi and Kasi from Cologne have only been in Thailand for 9 months and have only been able to celebrate a few successes so far. They have fulfilled their dream of having their own guesthouse in Thailand, but have left their family and friends behind in Germany.
Unfortunately, their guest house in the middle of a rubber plantation hardly ever attracts any guests and so their money is running out. Nevertheless, the two cling to the hope of attracting a few more holidaymakers to their guesthouse, but how long can this last? All emigrants to Thailand share a dream: to be successful under the sun and surrounded by palm trees. That demands a lot from them. We accompany them as they master Thai life and find new ways to continue living in Thailand.
