Wunderschön! - On the Canal du Midi to the Mediterranean
The Canal du Midi, the "Canal of the South", is the classic for houseboat holidays in France. Built over 300 years ago, it links Toulouse with the Mediterranean Sea, roams medieval towns like Carcassonne, passes through the vineyards of Minervois and Corbière, and through charming towns such as Narbonne and Béziers. Tamina Kallert + her friend Franziska rent a houseboat + enjoy this contemplative way to travel: the slow gliding, the wonderful landscapes + the encounters with lovely people.
At dinner on deck, they listen to the chirping of crickets, the fresh croissants for breakfast they pick up by bike in the next town. The many locks, narrow bridge passages + gloomy tunnels are an adventure.
